ANNUAL REPORT

2025

Pastor Duncan writes: during 2025 we’ve continued to see spiritual, numerical and financial growth within our church community. There is a growing hunger for God in the next generation, and we are witnessing this clearly in our kids, youth and young adult ministries where gatherings for worship, prayer and Bible study are commonplace. We are also seeing the benefit of our Thursday night meetings for Formation Academy, ‘Community Cross Communion’ and Encounter-in-the- Round, as the church gathers together for many special evenings of worship, teaching and fellowship throughout the year. For those who attend our Sunday services you will also be well aware of our numerical growth and the resulting ‘space’ problem that we have. During this last year we’ve had more than one thousand people (adults and children combined) attend our services on fourteen different Sundays. We continue to trust the Lord for a new building to meet in, waiting for ‘His plan to unfold’ (Psalm 106:13). And this year has been a year of financial abundance with the giving of regular tithes and offerings reaching a level not seen before at Coventry Elim. We thank God for His provision and that this has been a year of healthy growth!

During this year our commitment to ministry and mission overseas has also continued to grow. As a church community we now sponsor 213 children through Compassion and it was a delight to hear from Tsehaywota Taddesse, the Country Director for Compassion in Ethiopia, when he visited us last November. It has also been a joy to increase our connection with Elim in Kenya. We were able to fully fund the construction of a brand-new church building in the coastal town of Malindi and then, following the visit of Biship Wilson and his wife Alice, we were able to donate more than £9,000 to the Boda Boda project, supplying motorbikes for pastors in the northern regions of Kenya. We love these developing relationships with great ministries in other nations, and we also love celebrating the many nations that are represented within our own House! There are many highlights throughout the year, but near the top of the list must be our All Nations services where we celebrate thevery special diversity and unity that exists in our community.

Shirene and I remain grateful for the wonderful support we receive from our Eldership team. This year two of our existing Elders, Beverley Samways and Gareth Hutchinson, conclude their current term of office (which is five years), and we’re delighted that they have made themselves available to serve again for another term. Our church partners will have the opportunity to submit their confirmatory vote in support of Bev and Gaz before our Annual General Meeting at the start of December.

Pastor Shirene writes: One of the joys of writing an AGM report is that it requires us to stop, reflect and give thanks to God for his continued faithfulness towards us as a church. Over the past year, we've had numerous wonderful celebrations, experienced incredible numerical growth, and heard many testimonies of how God is moving in our church community. 2024 has been yet another year in which God has shown Himself to be powerful, present, and consistently good toward us.

I'm sure many of you have heard reports of the quiet revival taking place across England and Wales, as more and more young people are turning to Jesus and finding their hope in Him. For us here at Coventry Elim, that revival hasn't been so quiet. This year alone, we have baptised over 40 people, the majority from our youth group and young adult community. It's a profound joy to witness what God is doing in the lives of young men and women around us, and to be part of this transformative moment.

While we celebrate what God is doing among our young people, we are equally proud to be a multi-generational church. There is a unique richness that comes when different ages worship, serve, and grow together. Our mid-week Link Up group for those over 50 is thriving, providing a space where seasoned Christians can build deep friendships, share wisdom, and encourage one another in their faith. And while we often gather in our own age groups during the week, Sunday brings us all together, that's when we see Psalm 145:4 come to life: 'One generation commends your works to another'.

In response to growing attendance, we took a step of faith, moving The ROAR Women's conference to Warwick Arts Centre. This year's theme was 'Immeasurably More’ and God did just that. The new venue enabled over 200 more women to attend from across the country and from other denominations. Behind the scenes was an army of volunteers who gave their time and gifts to make it happen, from welcome teams to worship leaders, from tech and production to prayer warriors. Their faithfulness opened doors for hundreds of women to be refreshed, encouraged, and sent back into their communities with renewed vision. It’s a joy to serve alongside such servant-hearted women and men.

We want to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who gives financially to the work of Coventry Elim. We know that many of you give sacrificially, and we don't take that lightly. Your generosity enables everything we've celebrated this year to be possible. Andrew Varley's full financial report can be found later in this document, but we wanted to pause here to express our gratitude. Your faithful giving is an act of worship and makes a tangible difference in our community and beyond.

After nine wonderful years serving as our children's worker, Emma is embarking on a new adventure. She feels called by God to join YWAM and will be moving to New Zealand in February to undertake their Discipleship Training School. Emma has been a brilliant leader who has poured her heart into our children and families and we are excited to see where God leads her next. We want to say a huge thank you to Emma for her years of faithful service, her creativity, her love for Jesus, and her genuine care for every child who has come through our doors. We send her off with our prayers and our blessings.

As we reflect on this year, we are reminded of what a privilege it is to serve you, the local church. We want to express our deep gratitude to our wonderful staff team, eldership team, ministry team, management team, and the army of volunteers who have worked tirelessly to serve our church community, maintaining our vision of being a 'presence-led people'. We are so grateful for the overwhelming support you've shown us as we've stepped into co-leading together, and we're excited about what God has in store for 2026. If this year has taught us anything, it's that our God truly does immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine. We can't wait to see what He does next, and we're honoured to walk into the future alongside all of you.

Love and blessings Pastor Duncan and Pastor Shirene

Co-Lead Pastors’ Report

Pastor Shirene Agbelusi & Pastor Duncan Clark

This year has marked a significant change in the leadership of Coventry Elim with the both of us taking up the new role of Co-Lead Pastor, sharing responsibility and authority, as we lead the church forward together. We believe our church community is already seeing the benefit of two people leading together, while we also lean into our own unique calling and giftings. In a world where there are so many sad stories of separation and segregation, we believe we have the opportunity to demonstrate a radically different way to live and lead. We have been so grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received from you all as we have embarked on this new journey.

Executive Pastors’ Report

Gaz Hutchinson

I want to start by saying a huge thank you to all the incredible people who serve so faithfully week in and week out in our Worship, Production, and Media teams. You show up early, stay late, and give your best and I want you to know how deeply appreciated you are. Your heart, creativity, and consistency make it possible for us to gather each week and encounter God in such powerful ways. I’m so grateful for every one of you and for the way you serve with such joy and excellence.

Looking back over the year, I’m filled with gratitude for so many special moments we’ve shared together as a church family. We’ve celebrated powerful Baptism services, experienced the joy of All Nations Sunday, worshipped together at Encounter in the Round, been inspired and refreshed at the Presence Conference and taken church outside the walls of our building for the Roar Women’s conference! Each of these gatherings has been marked by God’s presence and made possible by the incredible effort and heart of our worship, production, and media teams. Whether it’s mixing sound, leading songs, running lyrics, managing lighting, or capturing moments on camera, every person plays a vital part in creating spaces where people can meet with God.

A huge shoutout to Dan, Lena, and Sam for the amazing job they do leading and supporting these areas. You bring such excellence, faith, and care into all you do, and it shows. I also want to give a special mention to Jason, who served as our Worship Intern this past year. He did an outstanding job and brought so much energy, passion, and humility to the team. We’re so thankful for him and the way he’s grown in his gifting and leadership.

Looking ahead to next year, we’re stepping out in faith as we continue to trust God in our search for a new building. We’re grateful for what we have now, but we believe He is preparing the right space for us to grow, worship, and serve our community even more fully. It’s an exciting season of trusting Him, and we’re expectant for all that He will do.Pastor Gaz

Youth Pastors’ Report

Daniel Duncan

This year, the Lord has been profoundly faithful in His work among us at Coventry Elim Youth. As a team and as a ministry, we can truly say that God has exceeded all our expectations. There has been a remarkable cultural shift, one that can only be attributed to the Holy Spirit—marked by deeper intimacy both with one another and with the Lord Himself. Our new motto, “One Way, One Lord, One Another,” has become more than words; it has shaped our identity. We have sought to cultivate a genuine culture of discipleship, where young people move beyond attendance to apprenticeship—learning to live, act, and love like Jesus. Our desire is to see a generation that is “all in” for Him. Equally, we’ve placed great emphasis on “One Another”, fostering the kind of authentic community described in Acts 2:42, where joy, prayer, laughter, and deep fellowship define our relationships.

Two key moments stand out this year. In March, over 60 young people attended our sleepover weekend, The Narrow Way, a time where many chose to take a firm stand in following Jesus. It was a weekend of fun, friendship, and spiritual awakening. Then, in August, Limitless Festival 2025 became a milestone for us. With 50 young people and 11 leaders attending, we witnessed an outpouring of the Holy Spirit—young people encountering God in life-changing ways: speaking in tongues, finding freedom from addictions, and fully surrendering their lives to Christ. The family unity and love that blossomed among our group became a testimony in itself, noticed and admired by others at the Festival.

Following the festival, the Lord began a fresh and profound work in our midst. This new season led to a redefinition of who we are as a ministry and the birth of our new name—Coventry Elim Youth (CEY). As a team, we have carried a phrase in our hearts: “We are going somewhere.” It reflects our shared conviction that God is leading us on a specific journey, and we are moving in step with Him and one another. Since the summer, our weekly gatherings have averaged around 70 young people, with many new attendees, some whom are exploring faith for the first time. We’ve introduced three new ministry rhythms that have greatly enriched our community:

• Family Conversations: Evenings spent gathered around tables discussing faith, life, and questions that matter to our young people.

• Bible Study Nights: Monthly sessions where small groups dive deeply into Scripture together.

• Draw Near Nights: Dedicated evenings of worship, prayer, and reflection, set apart to encounter God’s presence.

We’ve also seen incredible growth in service and gifting. Many young people have stepped into roles in worship, both within CEY and in wider church contexts. Some are leading Christian Unions in their schools, while others are representing their faith at city-wide youth events whether playing in the band or giving input into the event itself.

Above all, we give thanks to God for His grace and favour over this ministry. None of this would be possible apart from Him. I am so deeply grateful for our dedicated team of 20 volunteers, faithful servants and friends who pour their hearts into every young person they encounter. I count it a true honour to serve alongside them and to lead such an extraordinary ministry. The future is bright, our hearts are full, and we are confident of this one truth: We are going somewhere.

Operations Director report

A third year has gone by so fast, and I am grateful to God for the many services and events that we have been able to facilitate here at the Elim building.  I would like to give thanks to staff and volunteers for their tireless work setting up and tidying up for meetings throughout the year.

I would like to thank Ivan and Iris Williams for their many years of service to God and the fellowship caring for the lawns and borders and keeping the outside of the building looking so good. I am grateful to Stacha Ciza who has picked up the work of cutting the lawns and caring for the borders.

The last two months saw the second phase of gutter repairs, this time on the upper level. Repairs to the brickwork on the roof was also necessary which meant there was significant cost for these essential repairs. As a result, the brickwork at the front of the building is recovering and I have been able to reinstate the lighting around  and on top of the building.

We continue to try and seal the upper part of the roof which suffered during the prolonged hot dry weather, we intend to do something a little more significant to stop the drips in the main encounter room next summer, but for now we have made good progress identifying the issues.

Increasing our living space:  We continue to wait on God for a clear lead in finding a larger space to move into.  I would encourage everyone to continue Praying and to bring offerings into the STOREHOUSE fund so that we will be prepared to establish ourselves in the new larger space that God will provide for us.

Elders report

Bashir Jimoh

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is my privilege to present this report on our church's activities, and progress this year. This will be the first time writing the report on behalf of the church Elders. I give God all the glory for the opportunity to be part of a great team of Pastors, Elders and a Spirit–led church. Looking back at all that has happened in our church and Elders meetings, it is obvious that the hand of God is upon the church members.

It is a pleasure to serve alongside a dedicated, humble and anointed team of Pastors; we are grateful to God for providing us with such leaders who are willing to serve, follow and lead in the things of the Kingdom. The sermons delivered have been enriching and transformational.  As a church, we have heard from God through the sermons and sermon series: Live Deeply, Fruitful Life, Red-letters, and Consecration series. The recent sermon series on Consecration has been well received, and many members have expressed how it has influenced their spiritual lives.

We are grateful for the continued generosity of our congregation. The tithes and offerings for this year have been astronomical. This has enabled us to support our various ministries and outreach programs.

The youth and young adult groups have been actively participating in various activities and the children's ministry has been thriving, with children given an opportunity to play, pray, practice the word, and praise our God.

I have had the opportunity to attend the Ablaze men's ministry meetings, and it has been great praying, singing, and fellowshipping with brethren of different ages. Kudos to Nelson and his team for the great work they have been doing working together in unison to the glory of God.

We have seen a steady attendance at our weekly worship services. We also have the privilege of ministering to people each week alongside our wonderful Ministry Team. We thank God for the testimonies read out during the church service and shared in private by our church members.  We give God all the glory for the marvellous things He is doing in the lives of men, women, youth, and children.

In conclusion, I would like to thank all the members of our congregation, partners and volunteers for their unwavering support, dedication and prayers. Together, we are making a difference in our community and growing our faith. Let us continue to pray for God's guidance and blessings in all our endeavours. I believe God will continue to mesmerise us with His blessings. Shalom.

Soar Students & Young Adults

Tiana Holgate

It is a privilege and a joy to reflect on all that has grown amongst the young adults of our community. One year ago, we began a transition to serve 18-30-year-olds (previously 18-25), defined a set of core values, built a new team and launched a new rhythm of events. It’s a blessing to share that God has been present and faithful as always, and the community is growing and thriving.

Our Young Adult ministry, named ‘SOAR’ serves young adults within our community of varying life stages – including students, working professionals, parents and more. The tile SOAR (based on Isaiah 40:31) is also an acronym for our core values as a community: safe, open, anchored and ready.

One of our primary goals stepping into the 2023 academic year, was engaging 25–30-year-olds, to whom our young adult ministry was new. I’m delighted to share that this group now make up about 40% of our community!

The beauty of a young adult community is that we have a large proportion of university students, from a variety of backgrounds and with a great diversity of life experience. It’s been a blessing to see people find Jesus at this pivotal life stage and give their life to Him, surrounded by chosen family ready to spur them on.

In Term 1 during Autumn 2023, we launched ‘SOAR Nights’ – a monthly gathering for the community where we eat together, worship together, hear biblical teaching and discuss practical ways we can apply what we’ve heard to become more like Jesus. Around 75 of us gather in this way each month, as we’ve explored topics from spiritual rhythms to healthy relationships.

In Term 2, in response to a prompting from God to ‘stick to the basics’, we launched SOAR Bible Study where we walk through scripture in small groups, share what God may be saying to us, and solidify what we’ve heard in prayer. Between 30 and 40 of us meet weekly and the fruit is evident!

To close of the academic year in Term 3, we headed off-site for a SOAR Summer Social, where we had dinner to celebrate the gift of community, and all God had done amongst us this year.

A personal highlight has been seeing the SOAR community embed themselves across church life. Many of them consistently attend Formation Academy, serve across various teams in the church, and are actively discipling others.

As a team, we are committed to supporting and walking alongside the young adults and students in our community. As we enter the 2024/25 academic year, the focus remains on ensuring we provide a safe home for our young adults; remaining open to where God is steering us; staying anchored to His word and getting our community ready to step into the spaces God has for them.

I’d like to take the opportunity to say a great thank you to the SOAR team, my fellow staff members, our Elders and our wonderful congregation – all who cover us in prayer continually. I am hugely expectant for all that God will do amongst us in 2025!

Limitless Kids report

Emma Bacon

Over this past year we have mainly been following the teaching of adult church, incorporating the same themes and topics but in a way that is relatable and understandable to them. This past year we have seen a real hunger and inquisitiveness in our children for the things of God and their questions and discussions this year have deepened and matured. One Thing I have also realised over this past year is that there have been no warm ups. Previous years when doing events such as holiday club or Camp, we have had to break through spiritually and lead the kids to a place of encounter. This year I feel there has been more of an overflow and continuation of what they have learnt on Sundays into these events and the spirit of God has moved so beautifully but yet powerfully within. This year our Limitless kids vision for children and team has been: Worship is our posture. Prayer is our response. The Bible is our sword. Love is our Foundation.

Midweek groups

This year we joined year 1-6 together for life group! We saw real benefit in this, seeing the older children being a role model for the younger children. However we did notice that it was more difficult to go deeper with the older children who were ready for this, due to the younger children being present. This term we have gone back to alternating year 5&6 and year 1-4 life group instead to allow that space!

On the alternate week to life group, this past year we have been running our football ministry called Goalz. This has been a great space for our children to engage in something they love, whilst learning biblicalvalues in their play and joining together in prayer and devotion

Ignite Camp

We ran our 2nd year of Ignite Camp in July, taking 42 children over to Alfrey activity centre. The presence of God was so strong throughout the whole weekend and Joy just overflowed amongst every child and team member. But the word I would describe for this years IGNITE is togetherness. Not 1 person or child was seen to be left out, no matter their need! If someone was on their own, you would so beautifully see children going over to them asking if they wanted to play. The reflection of Family was so strong amongst children and team. This year we had 6 children with Autism attend. 2 of these children stayed for the whole weekend and the other 4 came on Saturday with 1-1 support! For some of these children, we thought they would only cope for part day, but God showed up and each child stayed for the whole day, joining in with not just activities but worship and Gods word! Each morning at Camp we had 7am Devotions. To which we saw 24 children show up, our of their own choice to pray and read Gods word, this to me really showed the position of our kids hearts for God as I saw them run to the chapel saying “Quick we are going to be late”. We pray for more of this!

Holiday Club

In April we held our Annual holiday club where we saw around 150 children come into church, from the community and our church family. And it was amazing!!! The theme this year was game changers. We looked at 4 topics. Do you know Jesus, Connect 2 Jesus, Let go and let God and Go tell others about Jesus. This years Holiday club released a desire in our children to hear the voice of God. On the first day of holiday club a spontaneous moment of children coming up to share what God has spoken to them took place. This was not planned but was so significant to what God was doing! This followed through into the rest of the week and became our posture for the rest of the year. This year at Holiday club we saw more children with Autism attend. Throughout the week we supported 10 children on a 1-1 basis which we are so thankful to God by for providing amazing people to help facilitate this for those children! Praise God.

I want to end my report by saying a massive thank you to the Limitless Kids team for all they have poured into every Sunday, every event, but most importantly every child! Limitless Kids could not run and be what it is without them so faithfully serving in the ways they do. Thank you!

Additional Needs Report

for youth and kids.

This year we celebrated the 10th Year of our additional needs ministry. There was so much joy in the churchas testimonies were shared of Gods goodness and faithfulness in so many kids and families lives! We are so thankful that Elim Coventry is a place of Belonging for so many families and that we get to witness the hand of God in their lives and how this is celebrated through the whole church community. Currently we are supporting 19 children in kids work who all have a diagnosis of Autism.

At the moment we have an incredible additional needs team who support these children each week, however due to space we are still continuing our weekly sign ups for Sundays in this ministry. In youth there are currently 15 young people who have an additional need. These young people do not consistently come on a Wednesday but are very much a part of our church family on Sundays and during connect+! Belong Conference also took place this year, seeing many churches from across the UK coming in to learn how to make their church accessible to all children and young people. The reminder and Focus for Belong this year was that we are not trying to just build a ministry to say we have an additional needs ministry, we are looking at the individual child and building around them! And thats our heart at Elim Coventry to see every child no matter their need.

This past year Its been so beautiful to not only see these children supported and grow through kids and youth but also to witness them beginning to serve in the church. This year 1 boy served on the worship team at Belong and also now serves as a young leader in Limitless kids! We pray for more of this to come moving into a new year! We pray for more of our kids and young people to step into the gifts which God has placed in them and see that released into our church community as God Continues to work in and through them!
